The American Chinchilla Rabbit
The American Chinchilla is a large, hardy and gentle rabbit with a good dress-out percentage. The senior bucks will mature to weigh 9-11 pounds and the does to 10-12 pounds through selective breeding. The does are at breeding age when they reach 8 months old. They have large litters and are great mothers. The fur is very dense with a gentle rollback.
The New Zealand Rabbit
The New Zealand is a large, muscular rabbit with quick growth rate. The senior bucks will mature to weigh 9-11 pounds and the does to 10-12 pounds through selective breeding. The does are at breeding age when they reach 8 months old. They have large litters and great mothers. The body is of a commercial type. The fur has a short and soft flyback. We have Ruby-Eyed White, Black and Broken colors.
The Silver Fox Rabbit
The Silver Fox Rabbit is a friendly, large breed of rabbit with an amazing dress-out percentage. The senior bucks mature to weigh 9-11 pounds and the does 10-12 pounds through selective breeding. the does are at breeding when they reach 8 months old. The does make excellent mothers with large litters. The fur is unique as it is long and dense, and does not fly back when stroked from tail to head until smoothed back into position. We have Black and Blue colors.
Meat
We do butcher our rabbits for meat. They are perfect as fryers, roasters and stews. Fryers range between 3-5 pounds. Roasters and stewing rabbits range between 6-10 pounds. Each litter can give a family plenty of meat for the freezer.
Fur
We do regularly process the fur from our rabbits. The fur is very soft to the touch and absolutely stunning. Each being unique in its own way depending on the breed. All hides can wick off moisture easily when properly tanned and smoked.
Show
We participate in the Isle of Wight County Fair as well as the local American Rabbit Breeders Association shows. This allows us to continue to evaluate and improve our breeding programs with the help of wonderful judges. We strive for quality for these breeds.
